A dementia breakthrough,
powered by you

Health/Aged Care Providers

As a healthcare professional, your day-to-day interactions with patients can make a considerable difference to the advancement of research into dementia treatment, prevention, diagnosis, care and cure.

By educating and encouraging patients and staff about the benefits and importance of participating in or encouraging participation in research, you can play a vital role in accelerating the effectiveness of research into dementia, as well as offering your patients the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the dementia community.

How you can support StepUp for Dementia Research

Engage your colleagues

In addition to telling your colleagues about the service and encouraging them to speak to the patients in their trust about StepUp for Dementia Research, you can support dementia research participation by including information about the service in your newsletter, on your website, on social media or simple in an email to colleagues. You can also contact us to arrange for someone from the team to come in and talk to you and your colleagues about the service.

Engage your patients

Speak to your patients, their carers and their loved ones about participating in research. Offering their insight and experience to researchers dedicated to studying dementia can help give patients a sense of purpose, hopefulness and control. It introduces them to a community of people with similar experiences and challenges. Participating in research makes a hugely valuable contribution to efforts to treat, diagnose, cure and prevent dementia, as well as care for people living with the disease. Participation is free and open to anyone aged 18 and over, with or without dementia.

Inform researchers

As a healthcare professional, you may be contacted by researchers looking to recruit patients. Referring these researchers to StepUp for Dementia Research will save you time, and introduce them to a broad database of volunteer participants whose information has already been captured. Direct them using the materials below, refer them to our website or helpdesk or simply tell them about the service.

Materials

To support this engagement, we’ve created free materials such as posters, brochures and registration forms for you to hand out or place in waiting and consulting rooms.
